Pymatuning State Park in partnership with the Pymatuning Lake Association is offering a two-day kayak course. The weekend will include an entry-level American Canoe Association (ACA) Introduction to Kayaking course on day one along with an ACA Flatwater Safety & Rescue course on day two. The topics covered in the intro course include safety, paddling environment, equipment, strokes, maneuvers, wet exits, and assisted rescue techniques. In the rescue course, students will learn to plan a safe trip, avoid potential dangers, develop and practice key rescue skills, focus on paddling techniques, and manage minor in-water incidents. Optional activities include an orientation to kayak/canoe camping, equipment, and tips; photo presentation on kayaking in Glacier Bay National Park; sunset & sunrise paddle. Participants will get wet as this a hands-on course. All participants should possess basic swim skills and be comfortable on, in, and around the water. Properly fitted life jackets will be worn at all times while on the water. This course is open to adults 18 . All kayaks and equipment will be provided. However, you are welcome to bring your own equipment if you prefer. Additional details and logistics will be given to all registered participants.

Cost: $100 includes kayak instruction, overnight camping accommodations & best practices, kayak & camping equipment if needed.

Overnight Camping Accommodations: Participants can spend the weekend (including Friday & Saturday nights) camping in the rustic group tenting area.
